LOCKED out in LOCKdown...May 11 2020

 Heyyyy what's the craic?

Hope everything is grand! Update: we are still in lockdown, but the restrictions for how far we can go outside of our flat have extended from 2km to now 5km๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿผ (it's the small things)

THE WORK is still soooo good here in Dublin! Here are a few highlights...
Our friend Peace✌๐Ÿผ (yes that's his name) tested positive for Covid-19 (he has no symptoms as of yet๐Ÿ™) and was banished to hotel room which he can only leave to go get dinner (INSIDE the hotel) and for an occasional walk around the perimeter of the hotel. Which is extremely unfortunate for his physical wellbeing but incredible for his spiritual wellbeing. With all his free time we have been able to meet with him frequently, he's had more time to read the book of mormon and is currently preparing to be baptized as soon as the law allows.๐Ÿ‘Œ๐Ÿผ

We also taught our friend Patience (again yes that is her name) she was one of the first people I met in Dublin (way back in October but because of her schedule we never got to teach her a proper lesson.) When telling her that we help people to come closer to Jesus Christ by being baptized she interrupted saying "I want to be baptized" we were like "oh okay cool we can help with that..." she then goes "when?" Long story short she is now also preparing to be baptized as soon as the law allows.

It's not a week in quarantine without a FUNNY STORY...
On Wednesday our wonderful MLC which had great instruction and insightful counselling, went a bit longer than planned... so we atempted to fit our four lessons and dinner into the last few hours of our day. In order to do that we needed to multiply task. An angel member bought us thai food (takeout) and was ready for us to pick it up while we were in the middle of a phone call lesson. We figured our friend couldn't see us so we could just continue to teach him as we ran down to grab our food... we did and as we were coming back we saw to our dismay the lanyard sister Blatter grabbed (as we ran out the door) had only our car keys not the flat keys... We end the lesson early and begin to start brainstorming ideas. Here is how our night went....
8:30- We tried "carding" the door with an old library card- no success.
8:47- We knocked on our neighbors door (with whom we shared a balcony- kinda) to see if we could get in that way- no answer #maybetheywanted6feet
9:00- tried carding the door again lol
9:15- We called our landlord who had a key but was outside of the 5km limit and was not willing to yeild to the law- she suggested we stayed at a friends for the night because "there's no way we could get in this time of night"
9:20- we tried our neighbors door AGAIN- still no answer
9:27- we ate the thai food that got us here in the first place
9:37- our district leader calls... and of course we had to explain the situation
9:42- we get a call from the zone leaders, again we explain our situation
10:02- we get a call from the assistants- they just laugh, although it is no longer funny at this point
10:10 called our landlord a second time asking if we could get the key from her same answer as before...
LONG STORY SHORT... we finally got into our flat wayyy past curfew with the help of a very nice locksmith and the zone leaders who lent us the €80 to pay him.๐Ÿ™ Moral of the story: don't lock yourself out during quarentine... we'll see if it sinks in this time.๐Ÿคฆ๐Ÿผ‍♀️

Something to PONDER...
"We invite all to come unto Christ by repentance and baptism and confirmation in order to open the doors of the celestial kingdom to the sons and daughters of God. NO ONE ELSE CAN DO THIS." (PMG p. 9) I have pondered a lot about my purpose as a missionary. Us missionaries are the only ones on earth that can do this specific work at this specific time. I am so blessed to still be here serving, and I will continue to do so until the savior says the work is done.๐Ÿ‘Š๐Ÿผ
I invite you all to think of your individual purpose right now; whether it be a mother, father, member missionary or friend. YOU WERE ALSO CALLED to do that specific assignment as this specific time. Remember that God is aware of you and your situation and lives you more than you could know.
Hope you all have a great week!!
Cheers,
Sister Fotheringham
